GRADUATION 2008
On May 30th we celebrated the 13th graduation in the WOL Hungary  Bible School. This was the largest and most exciting graduation ever with 49 students including 17 ethnic Hungarians, 21 from North America, 3 from Germany, 2 from Uganda and from 6 other countries, including one from as far away as Brazil. Dr. Wayne Vanderwier founding director of OIC ministries, was our guest speaker. Dr. Vanderwier hold the distinction of having taught the most hours in our Bible School of any guest teachers - over 250 class-hours.

“BORN AGAIN TO A LIVING HOPE”
This 50-minute drama continues to be used by the Lord in Hungary as it has been in many other countries, It is the true-life story of a young people who were saved through the ministry of WOL Argentina off the streets of Buenos Aires a short time before they died of AIDS. We are now able to take the Gospel into public schools, universities and prisons - places that have been closed to us for many years. In the last 18 months we estimate that as many as 3000 have heard the Gospel through this ministry and many have made public professions of faith in Christ..

Family News - Summer ’08

Dave: The spring was busy with many ministry opportunities. Since January, Dave has taught several courses in our Bible School as well as in Germany, Poland and Ukraine. In Hungary, in addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities in the Bible School, he has stepped back into the position of Director of Technical Services, Dave has also returned to doing much of the preaching in our local church as one of the elders.support

Karen: Karen has also had a busy and interesting year. In the fall, she returned to helping with the management of housekeeping for all of the buildings on our property. Another new and important ministry presented itself this year in the Bible School. Among our record incoming class were two families from the United States - one with two teenagers and the other with three. In both cases, the moms were also full-time students in the Bible School. Karen helped by serving as a staff advisor, mentor and just a practical help in getting adjusted to raising a family in a new culture and regularly took them to do shopping they just couldn’t do in our small village.

We are on our bi-annual furlough in the U.S. from June 2 through August 27. The Lord has provided us with wonderful accommodations and a great vehicle. We’re thankful to all who have graciously sacrificed to meet these needs. For the second time, Chris and Becky have remained in Hungary during our furlough to serve in the WOL camp.

Chris: Chris recently completed his first year in the WOL Hungary Bible School and is doing his summer ministry in our camp in Hungary in the audio / visual department, producing promotional and weekly camp videos. He will be continuing his studies in his second year at the Bible School in September. His long-term goal continues to be to serve as a missionary with WOL Hungary.

Becky: Becky just completed her sophomore year in high school - and her first year as a home-schooler in the A Beka DVD-class program. This summer, for the third year, she is serving as the receptionist in our summer camp.

MINISTRY NEWS
(based on the June, 2008 update from Al Konya)

USING EVERY MEANS

In recent months, God has given us many opportunities to share the Gospel and minister to others in Hungary in a special way. Pray for the thousands who have heard the Gospel lately, and for those who have made decisions for Christ during this time. Here are some of the ways God has worked.

Sports Ministries: 130 young people attended the soccer marathon in April, with 33 making public professions of faith in Christ for salvation.  Sports ministries in schools and a drug rehab center for teens have resulted in more than twenty trusting Christ as Savior.

“Born Again to a Living Hope”: We have recently had the opportunity to present this drama in Hungarian secondary schools and two major prisons. So far several thousand people have heard the Gospel through this drama, and several hundred have professed trust in Christ.

Open Air and Orphanages: In April a group of second-year students from the WOL Bible Institute in New York came to Hungary for take a on-site practical course on “Missions Realities.” Some of our staff and students joined them in ministry through giving out tracts and sharing the Lord on the streets of Budapest and in orphanages. About thirty made decisions to trust Christ during this special week that has become an annual event.

Family Day: On Pentecost Monday (May 12), the Lord sent a record crowd from our village and from across Hungary to our annual Family Day open-house.
