From the inside cover:
At age 26, I had been working as an engineer in my hometown for four years, but had also been playing in local country bands for most of that time. My life was dominated by the pursuit of money, playing music, and a serious problem with alcohol. As a result, my life and my marriage were headed for disaster. During these years, a friend had continually witnessed to me with no apparent results. But finally, in the summer of 1984, the Holy Spirit worked in my heart through his words, and I trusted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Shortly afterward my wife, Karen, came to know the Lord as well.
After becoming born-again believers in Jesus Christ, our goals in life changed dramatically. We began pursuing educational and ministry opportunities that would eventually take us to Hungary in 1992 as missionaries with Word of Life Fellowship.
We have lived in many temporary homes over the last twenty years and each one has brought many blessings into our lives. However, we have also faced many struggles and challenges that have created a deep longing in our hearts to leave the temporary home of this life and forever join our Lord and Savior in glory.
It is my prayer that this collection of songs will encourage the hearts of the saints. I also hope that it might be an encouragement to someone who is lost in sin and in need of the Savior’s grace, love and wonderful forgiveness. If this describes you, I urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, the living Son of God. He gave His life on the cross of Calvary, that all who call on His Name might have a personal relationship with Him, the forgiveness of sin, the free gift of eternal life and the sure hope of a glorious eternal home.
It has been a long road from playing guitar in the smoke-filled bars of Southern Indiana to proclaiming the Word of God as a missionary in Hungary. I dedicate this album to my beautiful and loving wife, Karen, who has walked with me every step of the way. No doubt it has been this journey that has made “Temporary Home” one of her favorite songs.
